Privacy policy
We collect as little as we can, we tell you exactly what it’s for, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. This page explains how, in plain English.
Last updated 5 October 2026
Who we are
PackDay is run by PackDay, based in Perth, Western Australia (our full business details are added here before accounts open). In this policy, “we”, “us” and “PackDay” mean that business. You can contact us about privacy at hello@packday.app.
We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Some small businesses aren’t required to, but we choose to, and this policy is written around them.
What this policy covers
PackDay is in early access. Today, this policy covers:
- the PackDay website at packday.app;
- the early-access list you can join from the sign-up page;
- the live demo (the web dashboard and the phone prototype) that runs on this website;
- the “tell me when it opens” form on the shop page; and
- emails you send us.
When the PackDay apps and business accounts launch, we’ll update this policy to cover them before they open, and tell people on the early-access list. Our terms of service already set out the main commitments that will apply to the apps: data stored in Sydney, location used only when you ask, photos that stay yours, and no selling of personal information.
What we collect
When you join early access
We ask for:
- your first and last name, work email and mobile number;
- your business name, suburb and state;
- the services you offer and roughly how many dogs you look after on a busy day; and
- the plan and billing period you’re interested in, if you choose one.
We also record:
- that you ticked the consent box, the exact wording you agreed to, and the date and time;
- whether you hold a founding spot;
- the page you signed up on and the type of browser you used; and
- a one-way scrambled code (a salted hash) made from your internet address, which helps us stop spam and repeated sign-ups. We don’t store the internet address itself.
We never ask for a password or card details when you join early access, and the sign-up won’t accept them.
When you use the live demo
The demo uses sample dogs, clients and staff. Anything you type or change in it is saved only in your own browser (its “local storage”) so the demo remembers it, and it isn’t sent to us. When you join early access, your browser also keeps your first name, business name, the services you chose and your plan interest, so the demo can show your services. You can clear all of this at any time with the demo’s “Reset demo” button or your browser’s settings.
On the shop page
If you ask to be told when the shop opens, the email address you enter is checked by our server and kept only in your browser. We don’t store it on our systems yet. If that changes, we’ll update this policy first.
When you email us
We keep your email and our reply so we can help you and keep a record of what was said.
When you visit the website
Like any website, the services that host it (see “Who can see it”) automatically record technical details of each request, such as the internet address, browser type, the page asked for and the time, to keep the site running and secure. We don’t use analytics tools, advertising tools or tracking cookies, and we don’t set cookies of our own.
Why we collect it
We use your information only to:
- tell you when PackDay opens, and start your 30-day free trial then;
- set up your trial to match your business (your services and size);
- honour the founding offer if you hold a founding spot;
- answer your questions and contact you about early access, which you agree to when you join;
- stop spam, abuse and duplicate sign-ups; and
- understand, in total numbers, what kinds of businesses are interested, so we build the right things first.
We won’t use it for anything else unless you agree, or the law requires or allows it (for example, if we’re legally required to share it).
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information.
- We don’t use it for advertising, and we don’t share it with advertisers.
- We don’t use tracking cookies or analytics that follow you around the web.
- We don’t collect card details or passwords through the website.
- We don’t send you marketing for other businesses.
Where it’s stored
The early-access list is stored in a database run by Supabase, in its Sydney (Australia) region. The database is set up so it can’t be read or written from a web browser: only our server can reach it, using a private key that isn’t published anywhere.
Demo data stays in your own browser, as explained above.
Who can see it
Your information can be seen by:
- the people who run PackDay, when they need to (for example, to contact you or answer a question); and
- the service providers that run the website and store the list for us, only so they can provide that service:
- Supabase, which hosts the early-access database (Sydney region);
- Vercel, which hosts the website and the server that receives your sign-up; and
- Cloudflare, which runs our domain name and forwards emails sent to hello@packday.app.
We’ll only give your information to anyone else if you agree, or if the law requires or allows it, for example to comply with a court order.
Information that leaves Australia
The early-access list is stored in Australia. Vercel and Cloudflare are based in the United States and run networks around the world, so the technical details of your visit, and your sign-up details while they pass through to our database, may be processed outside Australia, including in the United States. We use them because they’re widely used, reliable providers, and we take reasonable steps to make sure they handle information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
How long we keep it
- Early-access list: until PackDay opens and your trial is set up. If you don’t start a trial, we delete your details within 12 months of PackDay opening. If you ask us to remove you sooner, we do it straight away.
- Your consent record (the wording and time): for as long as we keep your details, so we can show what you agreed to.
- Emails: for as long as we need them to help you, and then no longer than 2 years.
- Technical records kept by our hosting providers: for the time those providers keep them, which is usually short.
How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including:
- encrypting the connection between your browser and our website (HTTPS);
- locking the database so it can only be reached by our server, never from a browser;
- keeping private keys out of the website’s code and only in our hosting provider’s protected settings;
- storing a scrambled code instead of your internet address; and
- giving access only to the people who need it.
No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t promise that nothing will ever go wrong. If it does, we’ll act as described below.
Seeing, correcting and deleting your information
You can ask us at any time to:
- tell you what information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that’s wrong; or
- delete it.
Email hello@packday.app from the address you signed up with. It’s free, and we’ll respond within 30 days. To leave the early-access list straight away, use the leave the list page: it removes your details from the list at once. You can also reply STOP to any email from us.
If something goes wrong
If we think there’s been a data breach (your information lost, or seen or shared without permission), we will:
- act straight away to contain it;
- assess it quickly, and within 30 days at most, to work out whether it’s likely to cause anyone serious harm;
- if it is, tell the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as soon as we can, following the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, with what happened and what you can do; and
- review what went wrong and fix it.
Questions and complaints
If you have a question or a complaint about how we’ve handled your information, email hello@packday.app. We’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not happy with our answer, or we haven’t replied within 30 days, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy when what we do changes, for example when the apps and business accounts launch. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change affects how we use information you’ve already given us, we’ll tell you first.
This policy is about privacy. Our terms of service cover using PackDay, including early access and the founding offer, and our contact page has every way to reach us.
